Amphetamines

Amphetamines (http://www.crystalrecovery.com)are drugs used to combat fatigue. Like cocaine, amphetamines increase the concentration of dopamine in the synaptic gap, but by a different mechanism. Amphetamines are similar in structure to dopamine, and so can enter the terminal button of the presynaptic neuron via its dopamine transporters as well as by diffusing through the neural membrane directly. Once inside the presynaptic neuron, amphetamines force the dopamine molecules out of their storage vesicles and expel them into the synaptic gap by making the dopamine transporters work in reverse.

Amphetamines also seem to act by several other mechanisms. For example, they seem to reduce the reuptake of dopamine and, in high concentrations, to inhibit monoamine oxydase A (MAO-A).

Amphetamines may also excite dopaminergic neurons via glutamate neurons. Amphetamines would thus remove an inhibiting effect due to metabotropic glutamate receptors. By thus releasing this natural brake, amphetamines would make the dopaminergic neurons more readily excitable.

Is there a possibility that amphetamines will be abused? What do you think are some of the physical effects in it?

If anything is used more than its dose than its called abuse, there are people who will use these drugs to get relief ans if they use in excess than its adidction

The US army was giving Amphetamine to its soldiers during the Vietnam war so that they could stay awake and fight. Many of these soldiers returned back home as junkies.

Thank's for the info Jim.
I wondered how those soldiers fought their enemies if they were using Amphetamine in different way. Vietnam war was not a joke.

The US airforce even gave speed to its pilots at one time so that they could fly more missions and stay awake longer.

im 19 and Im geting over a 6month benge from ice...... between me and my b/f at the time, we were smoking a quarter oz. a day. I got down to 89lbs. it was out of control. Im now trying to get my life back to normal.... i moved back in with my mom, i got a job at burger king, not the greatest job in the world, but, im trying to get out of that lifestyle i was in. At the time i was stripping and dealing.....it was good money, but, obvesuley, it takes you no where.
I was doing good for about 2 months, because i had moved in with some friends, that are cleen, but, when i moved back in with my mom, she smokes too. but, not nearley as much as i used to.

I really am trying to quit, but when its right infront of my face, i cant. and its even harder to stop now that im doing little bits at a time, because i dont get high enough, and all i can think about is 'more, more, more.' its actuly easer to quit cold turkey, then to try to weine yourself off.... because when your high, you dont care......you want more, andthats all there is to it, and, your going ot get more, no matter what it takes.

i think meth has to be the hardest thing to quit. i cant explane, i love it, but, i hate it. for about the first month and a half being cleen, smoking was the only thing i could think about, littlery. It was the first thought i though waking up, and the last thought i had going to sleep. I would, littlery, dream about it, everynight, i would dream i was hitting the tube, but just couldnt get high, and thats all i would think about the rest of the day.

anyways, i was wondering if anyone has any tips or good advice on how to get over the addiction.....

ok,

thanks!

peace love and empthy,

I was a meth addict for 7 years. I manufactured meth for 4 of those years. I have been clean and sober for over four years now and am very happy. Many will tell you that once a meth addict, always a meth addict. Also people will tell you that you will never be happy again. Keep up the hope because I can tell you for sure that that is not the case! There are treatment programs out there that actually work. It's not easy at first but that is just while you are searching for the tools you will need to regain control of your life. However, none of this will happen unless you decide which side your on. This is a decision that you are in no way, shape, or form on the side of meth or any other drugs. It is a decision to work hard. It is a decision. A line in the sand. Wins and gains can be had if you're willing to make the stand. It is not just a decision to not use drugs, that is actually a small decision. The decision is that you are going to grab ahold of your life. Good luck! You can do it!

It's really hard to quit, and I don't care what anyone says, if it's out front of your face, no matter what, you will not quit....I had quit for years, got together with a boyfriend that used and I started using again, I left my apartment for a week to "dry out" before coming back, he's trying to quit, but still relapses, emotional up and down swings, has a good job, but maybe not for long....I swear, no matter how much I hate it and see it ruining our lives, if I knew where his stash was, I'd probably be laying out a line right now.... Get away from it, regain your life, your loves, and your heart again!!!

Amphetamines are a whole family of related drugs, each with its own recipe, and are taken in different ways. They can be in the form of powder, tablets, capsules, crystals or red liquid.

They can come as a white through to a brown powder, sometimes even orange and dark purple. Amphetamines have a strong smell and bitter taste.

The capsules vary considerably in color and are sometimes sold in commercial brand shells. They are packaged in 'foils' (aluminium foil), plastic bags or small balloons when sold on the streets.

Tablets vary in color and can be a cocktail of drugs, binding agents, caffeine and sugar. This form is on the increase.

The reddish-brown liquid is sold in capsules. MDMA, or 'ecstasy' as it is more commonly known, is another designer drug-related to amphetamines. It is usually swallowed in the form of small tablets, but sometimes injected.
