Ex-smokers?

Inspired by QL's thead, I was wondering how many ex-smokers there are amongst us.

I smoked for almost ten years, before my asthma got so bad that I about killed myself. I finally chose to quit on valentines day, as my gift that year for my then fiance (the place I worked had gone bust so I was unemployed). I quit cold turkey, and though I needed something to play with for my fingers, I never ever slipped up. It's been six years now, no cravings.

I'm a lifelong non-smoker, having tried one cigarette in my entire life. My ex was a pack-a-day smoker when we met and I used to make him go out on the balcony of our apartment to smoke and brush his teeth before we made out. He quit about two months after we met. :)

Glad to see you were a positive influence! I was always made to chew gum after a cig, if I wasn't already doing so. Normally I did this anyway to try and stop my parents catching on to the fact that I smoked. Didn't work of course...

I have never been a smoker persey but was married to one. I would lite cigs for him once in a while and am glad that I never really wanted to take that habit up. I am glad to see that others can find the strength to quit though. congrats.

I can't stand the smell of smoke but alot of my friends are habitual smokers. I've seen some of them try cold-turkey but it hardly ever works. The Urge is too strong. A few of them tried help programs and had better results.

I never smoked untill I broke up with my girlfriend. After that I became a chain smoker and have been continuing till date. But seriously, now I want to give up smoking.

Today Ibought my last packet of ciogarettes, I have planed this quit for a long time, i suffer of Crohn`s disease and surely I`m not allowed to smoke, but I finally decided and I`m ready to quit cold turkey, I`ll post my story after a month or so , I will sure have bad cravings for I have smoked since I was 12 and now I`m 23+.
