Drinks For Alcoholics

I know, I know, you're probably thinking that EVERY alcoholic drink is right for an alcoholic.

But see in my experience, back in the UK working bars, it seemed that a large amount of alcoholics would be fans of cider. Not cider as in apple juice as it is sold in the USA, but alcoholic cider (at about the same or far high percentage ABV than beer). It got to the point that I could not ever bring myself to order a cider because of my experiences on the other side of the bar.

Does there seem to be a favourite where you are?

Alcoholics arround in my country seem to like spirtous drink like Vodka, Rum or Gin, I think they choose these ones because the effect is longer and they are cheaper than other drinks
