I have heard that these are sometimes used for movies where the director wants an ex smoker to appear to be smoking, so I assume that they are not nicotine containing. But has anyone ever seen something like this available? What would the point to them be if they don't have nicotine? Are they carcinogenic?

It seems that if they are NOT dangerous, and not nicotine containing, then maybe they could help a person to quit by allowing them to keep the habit, keep their fingers busy, without the addictive properties.

I have worked on movie sets, and I've seen them used. Some sets that are shooting period films can get smoky, because in earlier decades so many people smoked in public and the director wants to reflect this. Also on film sets, they often use an artificial smoke machine for atmosphere to diffuse light, that's supposedly harmless although I know it does bother some people.

I think herbal cigarettes are available in some convenience stores.

I'm not sure what health problems they pose.

If you are ingesting smoke it will cause health problems regardless of the source. Herbal cigarettes are merely an alternative with limited addiction potential that few people are interested in because they taste disgusting

These are marketed as an aid to stop smoking in some countries, but they seem to be bad for your health because of the carbon monoxide that they produce.

Herbal cigarettes are available in most health shops, and are generally nettle or mint. They do taste horrible though, and I wounder about the health risks of setting fire to something and breathing in the smoke, no matter what's in it.

As a student of Biotechnology, I must say that herbal cigaretees contains organic matter. And organic matter when burnt, releases carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide. So its not a good idea to even have herbal cigaretees.

I have been on herbal cigarettes for one month, 0nce when I was trying to quit. They can be found in farmacies and related shops. I can tell you they are just disguisting, your breath smells so bad, and worst of all they contain 90% eyucaliptus, whitch is a danger to use by inhaling the smoke.
