Is it true that some variants of alcohol harms less than other. I have heard that wine harms less than vodka and things like that or
every alcoholic drink is similar in effecting the body ?

Certain drinks have substances in them like tanning (ie wine) that might make you feel worse the next day. And certain people handle spirits better than beer for instance, but that doesn't mean that one is better than the other. As I understand it they are all as bad.

I think that there's something to be considered about beverages with lower alcohol content per volume.
For example, I'd say that most people could consume alcohol more quickly with shots or shooters than they could by drinking beer. I think there's a deterrent to some extent with a beverage like beer that has a relatively low alcohol per volume content than for something like vodka.
So if someone were to pass out with a stomach full of beer as opposed to a stomach full of vodka, but didn't throw up, at least the alcohol from the beer would be released more slowly to the person's bloodstream.
Each case would be an example of alcohol abuse, of course.

Bottom line: alcohol is a poison. The stronger the percentage, the more poison going into your system and the more careful you have to be. That's why a bottle of beer is equivalent to ONE OUNCE (a shot glass) of vodka or rum or whiskey, and an 8 ounce glass of wine.

There is nothing in the variants of the alcohol. The only difference is the concentration of aclohol by volume. All of then have equally harmful effects on the body whether it is vodka or wine since alcohol is in all of them.

There are two questions here. Firstly some drinks have more concentrated alcohol, meaning that bad things happen sooner. Secondly there are bad side effects from other elements in the drinks (eg diabetes from beer drinking).
However, the bottom line is that alcohol is all the same.

well I have also heard many guys say that doctors also prescribe the intake of alcohol in limited quantities saying that it is good for health.
To what extent is that true?

Some kinds of alcohol can help some health issues to a minor extent - although if you have a family or personal history of alcoholism this is definately a massive counterbalance.
However student binge drinking does not count.

Alcohol is not harmful if you take it in limited quantities but people seems to go mad about it. Even doctors prescribe it in little quantites as it can act as medicine.

I think alcoholis not harm ful if taken in controlled amounts. All the cough syrups have alcohol as base. Even doctor sometime advice to take alcohol daily in some prescribed amount.
It is true that little quantities of alcohol is beneficial but the problem is the people misunderstood and lost control and indulge in heeavy drinking leading to alcoholism. They didn't realize that they are slowly getting addicted to alcohol.

People are not so obidient that they will only that much amount as prescribed by the doctor, they will themselves will increase the quantities and this is point when they get addicted. Most of the people around 80 percent of the people misunderstood this and they become alcoholic.

Alcohol is present in all the variants whether it is vodka, wine or anything else. it is not going to harm you as long as you take it in control but once you cross your limits their will be problem for you.

In some countries where the weather is generally cold and in winters it goes chilly, it is essential for you to have some vodka or rum so that you could keep your body warm from inside.
Like in Russia you would find your host welcoming you with a glass of vodka in winters.

Every alcoholic drink will have same effect on the body whether it is vodka or whiskey. The only difference is the content of alcohol other wise everything is same in them.
