I recently saw a discovery health program on food addiction and in it they made a very revealing point.

When a drug addict, or an alcoholic goes into rehab, they completely stop using the substance that they are addicted to. But a food addict can never do that. Every day of their life they will have to eat to survive. How frequently do you think that a heroin addict would be able to completely stay 'healthy' if they had to take a small dose of the drug three times a day every day for the rest of their lives, but never over do it, never abuse it.

That's why food addicts find it so hard to stop, and so end up in the situation that is so dangerous.

That's an interesting idea. I guess those of us who are food addicts need to at least change the kinds of foods we eat so that they are healthy and good for us. I'm having trouble eliminating the craving for sweets.

In my opinion, food addicts cannot stop because they havent learned to find foods that leave them feeling full. They need to fill the void and simply do not know how. Organic nutrition can solve this, as well as using organic super-suplements such as IntraMAX (organic supplement with 412+ nutrients). If your body is always full of all the nutrients it needs, you will crave much less and feel full all the time. Your binge eating habits will stop when you realize you are simply not hungry anymore.

Probably I can't eat my meals if i'll take that suplements since our stomach will always be full. Anyway that's good. But what would be the side effects.

This is interesting information. I have noticed with myself and others that sometimes we eat when we're not hungry. It could be at work, when food is available and we're eating out of boredom of a long day.

I have noticed a certain strange feeling with me always. At many times when I get back to lunch after having a proper full meal I again start feeling as hungry as if I've eaten nothing.

I wonder why's that so?

That happens to me also some time its cause we just put the food in our mouth and did not really watch the food touch the food and enjoy , that is the time that I feel like I am still hungry after I have eaten a large meal .

I agree that stopping food addiction cannot be done one hundred percent as you have to eat. Although while going through recovery you might be able to switch to a liquid diet which can help possibly.

Yes, you have to eat to survive, but skipping lunch or dinner(this is not a good idea) will not cause the immense pain that drug addicts feel if they miss a fix. For food addicts, you need to discipline yourself to regulate your intake and watch what you are eating instead of stopping altogether.

Whether a person lives under severe long-term stress, is stressed out by dieting and doing without, or is stressed out because he's so miserable being overweight; stress leads to cravings and/or hunger that is extremely difficult to ignore.

Increased hunger is caused by elevated cortisol levels. Cravings can be caused by adrenal fatigue or just the need to feel that one has the energy to be able to function (and sugar and fats make people feel more energetic right away).

Under chronic stress the body goes into a "stress response" and just stays there. Under acute stress the body goes into a stress response but returns to normal once the immediate stress is gone.

Food addicts just can`t stop eating because their unconsciness tell`s them to eat and eat.. I think these are all related to the brain and not the body.
