I have such a craving for sweets and for nibbling all the time. Has anyone here had the same problem and managed to overcome it? I'd love to hear of some things you have done that were helpful to stop this habit, craving or addiction.

I'm not more on sweet foods because I'm afraid of diabetis. If your carving for sweets, the best thing to do is to start eating fibre-rich foods daily and avoid processed foods as much as possible. Why not eat more fruits and vegetables?

Try eating more home cooked food , that helps a lot than eating packed food

Sometimes when I do eat sweets, I'll have some very dark chocolate which I believe has less sugar in it, but satisfies my craving for chocolate.
Also I'll have dried fruits instead of processed sugar sometimes.
I think these choices are at least a step in the right direction.

Sometimes the craving for sweets indicates a problem with your blood sugar levels. It wouldn't hurt to get them checked out and make sure you're not hypo- or hyperglycemic.

I too have this problem. I can eat a full meal and then still be craving something more. Sweets throughout the day in very small portions has seemed to help. I spoke with my doctor about it and this is what she suggested. Instead of eating a full candy bar, take a nibble and put it up. Later you can eat some more. One candy baar a day is nothing to worry about.

I think the best thing to do if you're craving for sweets is to consult your physician. Some people can't control their cravings and I guess it's no longer normal.

They say that when you crave a certain food you are missing something from your diet.Make sure you are eating a varied diet.

Some people keep eating on and on and at last they have to face some very bad results , so if you can control now then do it because one of my friend had to be hospitalized because of over eating

I have a similar issue. I went to see the doctor and there is no sign of diabetes, but I do crave sweet things and that's not helping my weight. This week I will try to have fruits such as dried apricots at hand rather than chocolate.

I find that when you are craving sweets if you eat something that is sour and not candy that you will have a better chance of getting that craving fullfilled. Eat something like a dill pickle and it usually works well for me.

The craving for sweets can point to a bug eating dissorder, I have gone through a period of time when I was too craving for sweets, but now I just can`t stand them, I only eat jelly`s if I need something sweet, otherwise I drink a sweet coffe or tea.
People who are under stress may crave sweets because we are hard-wired to crave carbohydrates in times of stress. High-energy foods actually stop the stress response, and since the stress response is very dangerous if it goes on too long, Nature has designed people to crave high-energy foods to get the body out of that response.
Also, when people live under frustration and/or stress for too long they can get adrenal fatigue, and essentially its the same type of thing going on. The body craves sweets and/or salt.
Aside from remaining in a stress response, people who live with chronic stress and/or frustration (even boredom is stressful) can feel very depleted without having that high-energy "fix". They can feel as if they cannot move unless they get their "energy blast" from something sweet.
Contrary what many people believe, this is not a matter of someone's "equating food with love". Its more a matter of giving in to the cravings in order to be able to still function. This is probably the cause of many overweight moms having weight problems.
