In one category of this forum, i found the word abuse of alcohol . so
How would you define the level of abuse of a drug or alcohol?
At what point a drug users abuses the use of the drug. ?

Before anything else, what's the difference of alcoholism and alcohol abuse? I'm a little bit confused.

I think the difference of alcholism and alcohol abuse is based on how you defien level of abuse . Just normally using alcohol at parties can also be kind of alcholism but abusing it might be like using alcohol as an addict.

For me the difference of alcoholism and alcohol abuse is that, alcoholism is just taking alcohol in your exact dosage while alcohol abuse is that taking it abusely I mean taking it beyond your dosage.

I would have though they were one and the same thing, but what does it matter? Its only semantics. I would say that if you can drink occassionally, for a specific reason, for example going out to meet your friends on a night out, or having some wine with a meal, then you are just a social drinker. you can take or leave alcohol, even though you need it. If you drink alone, bacuse you are upset, during the day, or to such an extent that you are hiding it from others, then this is substance abuse.

sorry, that sentance was meant to read you can take or leave alcohol, even though you enjoy it. Not need it. That's a problem.

No one needs to drink alcohol or take drugs. The fact that they do it and then their body depends on this to help it maintain a steady in life is just that a dependancy which is in my books abuse.

Abuse is something we are doing it to ourselves when we get addicted. Drug addiction is a drug abuse if it harms our body. And it does even we take even in small quantities.

Abuse of alcohol means you drink more than you are supposed to, though you are not supposed to drink at all, if this is your choice , drug abuse does not exist, you can say you abused on drugs, drugs should not be part of anyone`s life , they just give you a little pleasure with turns into hell after a while. Just stay away from both this is the best way you can deal with drugs or alcohol .
