I know a lot of people who crave coffee in the morning, including myself. I limit my coffee to three of four cups a day, but I've known some people to drink it all day.
I wonder what would be a good substitute for someone trying to limit their coffee intake?

I read interesting research about caffeine a year or so ago, which said it's not bad to have small amounts throughout the day to boost your mental capacity. Just don't overdo it.

This is very nice to hear. Although I don't have a problem with coffee, I do have a problem with caffeine and it is nice to hear that it probably isn't as bad as I thought. I must have Mt. Dew a few times a day.

I drink 2 cups of coffee everyday. One cup in the morning and another cup of coffee in the afternoon. But sometimes I used a combination of coffee and milk. I think it's not addiction.

2 cups a day is certainly not addiction but i think taking small amount of coffee in between is also not that harmfull

It was a very interesting article in National Geographic. I'm sure the research must be online somewhere. Apparently, caffeine in small amounts is not a bad thing, although a huge amount at once can kill you.

Well, killing you outright can be considered a bad effect. All things in moderation.

I dont think caffeine will kill you too quick. It has a very slow effect and even if you take it in large amount then thought it might not hurt as other drugs do.

3-4 cups of coffee a day won't do you harm. It's been known that caffeine is a performancer enhancer in endurance athletes. I can't go a day without my morning coffee. It jump starts me in the morning.

I drink 3 to 4 cups of coffee every morning. I have to have it or I cant function. After that I drink tea. Most days I'll have 2 cups of tea but I may go as high as 4. I recently also started drinking soft drinks as well. I find myself very tired in the afternoons, and was wondering if caffeine had anything to do with it.

What are the symptoms of a caffeine overdose? I would take it that this is a very gradual and hard to perceive process. And how does it kill you? Heart attack?

I drink less caffeine than you do and I notice the same effects - especially on days without caffeine. I think with the amount that you are drinking it is very likely that you are tired because of the caffeine.

I drink crazy amounts of coffee (1 every half hour from the moment I get up until just before I go to bed). I think I'm biologically addicted because if I have to go without coffee for a sustained period of time I get a stonking headache.
I asked my doctor about it and they said that to be putting myself in danger I'd have to take really really insane amounts of caffeine and that I wasn't likely to be doing myself any harm, but if I wanted to wean myself off it then I'd be best off doing it slowly.

One of my friends also told me that you can substitute your smoking with having four to five cups of coffee everyday. I dont know how much correct he was?

Been there done that. Just keep in mind that MT Dew has 3 times the amount of caffiene that coffee does and it also dries out the skin. So if you are going to drink it then make sure that you drink two to one with water. For everyone one 20 oz bottle drink 40 oz of water.
