Does a person's location cause them to become more susceptible to alcoholism? I know that a person with alcoholism will drink in any location, but does it have an effect on how much the person drinks? For example, does an alcoholic drink more when they are in a bar than they would if they were at home alone?

I believe circumstances can affect your cravings to drink. I never drink at home and used to only hit the bar in BWood a few times a week after work. Since then, they've built a bar directly across the street from where i live. Therefore everyone knows me, and knows that i'm not going to be driving so it seems to make things more convenient.... alas.

I can see how convenience can become an issue not only in regards to alcoholism, but also in regards to any addiction.

I think that in some cases people working in a remote location or on the road can be drawn to drinking more heavily.
I don't think an alcoholic would necessarily drink more in a bar than at home.

That's what I was thinking, but I also wondered if they would drink more in a bar since it would be considered more socially acceptable, but I don't think that alcoholics are necessarily more worried about drinking in a socially acceptable manner.

I think someone is more likely to drink more at home because of the cost.

That's another good point that I hadn't thought about before. The cost of buying a container of alcohol is usually much lower than the cost of buying alcoholic beverages in a bar.

Yes environment and circumstances do have effect on alcoholic . If a addict is in a place where he regularly takes drugs then there he will have high desire to take it even if he has left it after rehab. So if you have left drugs then don't do those things and don't go to those places which remind you of drugs

Exactly! Because first thing we mostly adopt is based on our surroundings/environment. So if you belong to an environment that drug addict is rampant 90% you'll be on the flow too.

Yes , you should not never do things that remind you of old days and just focus on your future

i dont think location has anything to do with amount the person drink. The thing is the if he is a habitual drinker or an alcoholic then he will drink wherever he will get chance and if he is casual drinker then he will avoid drinking as much as possible.
