How much of a problem do you think there is from movies, TV shows or books glamorizing people with addictions?

I'm referring to movies like A Star Is Born, or Animal House, among others.

In most movies, TV shows, and books, I don't see drug addictions glamorized. I'm not saying that it doesn't happen, but in most cases I don't see a problem with it.

i dont see drugs being glamorized but yes , smoking is glamorized a lot . you can see lots of movie where the actor is shown smooking in a stylish way .This send a very bad message to masses and children sometimes try smoking as them and tend get addicted to smoking

I was thinking of scenes in A Star Is Born where Kristofferson's character is floating in his lavish swimming pool drinking Bloody Marys and his manager hits him with coke before going onstage.

And in That Seventies Show, the "pot circle" was a regular feature treated with humour. Will & Grace's Karen spoke a lot about pill and alcohol consumption. I guess that's a result of restrictions on prime time TV loosening up in general.

"That Seventies Show" is one of the examples of marijuana being glamorized, but I don't think that most children will understand it. I'm more concerned about children seeing it and thinking it's cool, I'm not saying that it doesn't effect adults any less.

Smoking is the most glamorized addiction that I see on TV too.

This is kind of off-topic, but another example of a movie's unfortunate influence on young people is the popularity of street racing that's partly promoted by films like The Fast And The Furious.

I've seen police officers on local TV referring to that.

Thats right , Most young people try to imitate what they see in movies and they think what those actors do on screen is preety cool and they too try it and fall in danger

In the UK there was a problem whe Brideshead Revisited came out when a lot of the brightest students in Oxford and Cambridge brought into the decadent image and some eventually into hard drug abuse.

Yeah, Johhny Depp played the lead role. It's a really good film, but I don't think it glamourised anything, coz it's based on a true story, and he ended up sad and alone in jail, barely knowing his daughter.

I don`t think reading can be harmfull to anyone , except if they take too hard on it, they should know how to choose between wrong and right, that`s all. As for TV show most of them are useless, you don`t even gather any knowledge.
