Well, here is an update on my son. He started detoxing the day after I joined....since then he has not used anything and has decided to stay away from all his user friends. I am so proud of him...it was a tough road for him to decide to do it by himself and now he knows he has his friends(non-drug users) and family to help him stay sober!

Congrats to you and your son. Its not easy to control such problems on your own.. But if you have supportive people then you can do it.

Boy do I ever know that! I am 9 years sober from an alcohol addiction and in my 17th year of sobriety from a cocaine addiction...and I did it all by what I call "Won't Power" meaning I won't do it again...it helped to have a support system to get me through the dark days when the urge to drink or use was so bad I would have given anything for some blow(my drug of choice) or a shot of Jack Daniels. I am just happy that my son is fighting off the urges to stick a needle in his arm with a little help from his friends and family.

Peaceful Hugs,

What good news. It gives us other mums some encouragement
I have cried so much over my son - I couldn't imagine anyone else being as upset ---- until I started looking at sites like these.
Keep us informed of his progress... Where there is life - there is Hope
Well done to everyone who reads this - that has fought any form of addiction.
