Has there ever been a case where a casino was held civily liable for a person developing a gamblin addiction? Has a legal precedent of any kind been set?

This case does not seem to have been decided, and it is in Vienna, Austria but it was sad in both the desperation that it showed and the way in which he could not take responsibility for his own life:

Well not heard anything like a casino being held liable in a punitive action but in Australia a Court ruled to prevent such effects and ambience which make gamblers to stay and to play more and more.

Well that is too bad that the a case has even been allowed to go to court. I think that the person is ultimately responsible for their actions and not the casino in which they chose to go to in the first place. If the casino loses then how will that effect the casinos.

I think this would be thrown out of court before it even got started. Casinos have a rule that only those 21 years or older can go in. In that case, that person should be a responsible mature adult and whether he gets addicted or not is his sole responsbility.

Ever heard of Corporate Liability. You cannot make this argument in the Case of Corporate Liability that a business is for earning money and it is not responsible if by doing so some customers get harmed or get losses. Similar theory applies here. Casinos are there to make money but they also have a responsibility towards the public at large. You just simply cannot gamble out all of your customers' money leaving them with nothing.

they will never be liable for any addiction those people who come in to there place. they only let in people who is at the right age to think. And addiction is a individual problem nit the casinos.
