My brother in law does not seem to be able to admit to being addicted to alcohol. He has been to AA meetings but says that he is a binge drinker not an alcoholic. Is there any way to get him to face the truth?

I think AA meeting is not going to help him unless he admit the addiction. It is very important for not only him but also for others to admit there addiction. I think you should interact with him or if possible take help of psychologist.

People have tried to talk to him, but no one has got through. He does go for weeks without the booze and then he's back on it. If there was one thing I could say to him to make him admit he needs help...

I think you should take him to your nearest rehab centre and meet councellor. I think this will help him as they know how to handle people like your brother.

Addictionstyle is right. You should take him to councellor in the near by rehab centre. The councellor are trained to handle people like your brother.
