I think you ought to advice him for some serious professional help. The research on the drug is still at the nascent stage and people like you and me cannot offer much help to him except for some freindly advice and support. He should visit a rehab centre for a proper therapy.

Well being supportive is a big help. They obviously asked you because they saw that you were strong enough to help yourself and feel that you can give them strength to recover as well. What the person needs to do is to make a plan. If you took a 12 step program you can adjust that information to apply to this situation and help them as well.

Your recovery can be inspiration for others. That what the case with you here that guy saw that if you can recover then why can't he?? Thats a great thing that person can give the addicts. Try giving himmore support and try make him comfortable with his decision to recover.

I'm trying to help a friend who i recently discovered is addicted to meth.
I didn't notice the warning signs early because of the rare amount of contact between us ,ofcourse avoiding old friends is a part of the addiction. I sum up the change like this -before she told me everything, after she tells me nothing. From the happiest person i know to the saddest. This horrible problem has become common in the most unlikely areas such as Mt.Airy ,NC (Mayberry) I'm actually trying to locate Tammy now so i can attempt to help her. robertson292002@yahoo.com

I suggest the poll will have little statistical relevance. Those who've given up will be proud to say so (As they should. It can be a huge task for some. Not everyone gets addicted equally) Most who still smoke won't want to admit it here. Why should they?
