Well my idea may sound a bit crazy to you but after all its just an idea.

Why do people get to addictions? When they are tense or simply to get a high to experiment. So why not give people what they want in very controlled scenario i.e. you allow them to have Mj untill and unless they prove harmless to themselves and to others.

Alot of people first get addicted because they are urged to try it by friends or peers. They cannot withstand the peer pressure so they cave in and take a puff. It feels good, so they take a bit more and before you know it, they are completely addicted.

I agree with tou Archob , they first try it and end up addicted, in notime , actually you can get addicted from the first smoke you have, why put the question this way, anyeay many people can`t even stand the smoke.

I'm not a big fan of stuff that alters people's minds.

When I was a kid growing up my mother used to say, "You were born with a good, clear-thinking, mind. Don't do anything to mess that up." Her message stuck.

The world already has alcohol as a major problem. I happen to be the survivor of an accident in which my girlfriend was killed by a drunk driver. I have known families to be destroyed when their otherwise perfectly wonderful parent became an alcoholic and turned into a monster.

I'm not a big fan of doing anything that would encourage "messing up" clear thinking. There are things that people want to do because its fun or relaxing. Sometimes people need to be mature enough to realize that some things that happen to be fun or relaxing have consequences that aren't necessarily worth using them.

I understand the original point, but I don't think people wouldn't become addicted to a substance, just because they are allowed to do it. I do think we need to take a more realistic approach to drugs though, and admit the fact that people use them, and try to find out why and stop the root causes, rather than just saying that drugs alone are the problem.

What are you going to do if the person proves to be harmful because they are now addicted and you have cut them off. Aren't you then contributing to their delinquency and therefore responsible.
