Well folks I am scared to death. I was put on Xanax way back in 1997 for anxiety 1/4 mg back then. Now I was up to 1.5 mg a day. I could not sleep without it. Doctors kept on putting me on more and more meds (mildly Bipolar II here). My therapist told me that when she tried Xanax it made her horriblly depressed. She also warned that many (not all) of my mood swings could be attributed to the Xanax. I was also geting more memory loss attributed it to getting older (42 yrs old) or my supoosed ADHD.
My doctor put me on 2 MG of Klonopin which he will be taking me off in about a month. He claims that Klonopin is the detox drug of choice for xanax withdrawal. He also gave me a cery low dosage of Seraquil to help me sleep. I actually spent the first non-Xanax night in almost 10 years last night. Was very nice for a change. I also flushed all my Xanax (even my stckpile stashes) down the toilet today. I admit to some trepadation but I did it. No more Xanax in my home. last dosage was two days ago.
No real withdrawal effects yet. I hear horror stories and don't know what to expect. I wonder what life will be like now? I would love to live life not being on 5 meds. My little voice was telling me this is the way to go.
Next hurdle will be ADDERAL into that one for 12 years.
