When is the right time to get off suboxone? I have been on it for for a long time and I have been sober almost 2 1/2 years. I want to get off of it but the doctor who put me on it believes I should stay on it. I had almost a year of sober-ness when i started it because of cravings and some other things. But my recovery is real good and I don't think I need it. I go to meetings, am on Step 8, call my sponsor everyday and I am doing what I have to do to stay sober. I feel it helped me when I was in real bad shape but I am better now. I don't want to take it "because I am used to taking it" if you know what I mean. But the doctor who has been monitoring me since I got sober sees nothing wrong with me staying on it and addiction is his speciality so I trust him. But I don't want to keep taking it b/c I am "used to it"..I feel that it fulfilled it's purpose and helped me when I needed it but I don't want to use it as a "crutch".. thanks! :confused:
