12 Steps and Spirituality

All that I know of the 12 steps is that they are spiritual. Well what if a person has no faith? How can a person like that get well, within a scheme like AA?

All you have to do is frist start with loving your self . You have to find a reason to stay alive and be clean . Take things one step at a time and not try to kjump into things .

But beyond that then what? The 12 steps involve turning yourself over to God. What if you don't believe in God?

Hi singleagain:

You don't have to believe in God to use the program it just makes life so much easier. You could have a "higher power" that you believe in and go from there. Believing in God is really so easy. What do you have to loose? He loves you soooo much and only wants whats best for you. I had to learn this the hard way. Just start with the first step and make that decision that you don't want to live the way you have been. Then take it one thought at a time. You deserve better, just keep saying that to yourself. You want a better life. Little by little you will pull yourself out of it and at the same time, if you ask God into your heart, He will help you achieve great things so much easier.
