Now a days many of us are used to buy meds without any doctors prescription. But I think it is not safe to our health, so it would be better to consult your doctor to learn and to buy the exact medicines for your health. What do you think?

A doctor's prescription is really important especially in buying medicines for kids. My neighbor experienced a very bad side effects of buying drugs without any prescription. It was a good lesson for her.

Are you saying that many people are buying prescription medications without a doctor's prescription? How are they managing to do this without doing something illegal? Are they also getting these medications at a reduced price? I wish I could find my prescriptions for a lower price!

In Canada I believe you can do this, but not in the US. You can buy over the counter meds, and yes they can be dangerous because people may not realise for instance how many meds contain tylenol/paracetamol and may not realise that you can kill your liver by taking it.
For kids too, fever suppressors can be damaging because the fever is the body's tool or at least one of them, for killing the bugs that is making it sick. This however most doctors will not tell you.

Even in my place some Meds can be bought cross the counter, but after the recent law of banning drugs for many drugs you need a doctor's prescription

It can't be anything but a good thing to have tighter control on meds that can cause problems in the people that take them. Of course others might disagree, especially if THEY are the people who misuse.

That's what I wanted to happened in our place. Drugs banning to have a secured medicine to be taken. I think it would not be a burden to us because we have public doctors that can prescribed as medicines for free.

hey guys
I know this is very disturbing. WHere I live, you can get virtually everything without prescriptions. Even The retailers are promoting such act. No rules and no regualtions. There must be some laws regarding it and act to it fast.

It is disturbing, and in fact Canada has become a joke worldwide for the fact that you can get cheap generic and brand name drugs without a prescription. These are way more dangerous than anything otc of course.
The problem is that most people do not believe that any negative side effects will occur to them so they take the risk.

Many people take medicines for their own prescription, that's why their pain prolong instead of an early curement.

What drugs are you talking about? Each country probably has slightly different regulations controlling medication. And if you're getting these drugs without a prescription, wouldn't you call that "otc" or over the counter?
I consider affordable medication to be a positive thing.
I've lived in Canada all my life and I need a prescription for something as simple as topical cream for an ear infection. And generally, my doctor doesn't approve prescription refills beyond the initial amount without another visit.
When you fill a prescription, you receive printed instructions and the pharmacist discusses the medication with you.
I think you're misinformed.

Do any of you guys know what could be prescribed medicines for smoking?
I've heard really good things about Chantix. It's an oral med used for smoking cessation, but it's not like most; It doesn't use nicotine replacement, and then ease you off altogether. Check out webmd to read about it and the side affects. I have a few friends that have used this method and were really impressed by it.
If your insurance doesn't cover it, talk to your doctor (in the US anyhow, not sure about anywhere else..) about what's called a Formulary Exception, or a Prior Authorization to get the med covered by your ins. These are not hard to come by if you have a good dr. I work in health ins. (don't hit me) and deal with this all the time. Good Luck!

Heavens yes it is vital to get your medications from your doctor. He is the only one that will know all the reactions and what would work best. You can get yourself into real trouble if you take to much of anything. I mean even aspirin is a anti coagulant..which will keep your blood from clotting..some peoples blood more so than others..So do be careful even with OTC drugs

Over-the-counter drugs you can generally get anywhere and every household has them. But most pharmacies should not let you get prescription drugs unless you actually have a prescription. I have never bought prescription drugs without a note from the doctor. It could be dangerous.
