Hey Guys

From what I know of marijuana and from my personal experience of it, I do not think it is as harmful or at all harmful as other drugs like cocaine or meth etc. Then why this herb is still illegal? I mean what is so big deal with it?

It does tend to make you hallucinate if you get too high and its like an entry way to other drugs. People who smoke this stuff usually move on to something strongern after a while.

And yes, its harmful, if nothing else, its like smoking.

I don't believe that smoking dope will led to taking harder drugs, I think it just depends on the person and how experimental they are. With regard to any harmful effects, if you smoke it with tobacco, then its doing you all the harm of a cigarette. I also know a lot of people who become dependent upon it to sleep, and find it very demotivating. And its in a different class to a lot of harder drugs like coke, so it has effectively been recognised as less harmful.

Marijuana can have very negative effects on some people, like halucinations and dizziness , it depends on the person, I don`t know why everyone seems to agree with this drug. Is is less dangerous than other drugs but still a drug with very harfull effects on the long run!

Marijuana is a gateway drug for a lot of people who are on the harder stuff.
It starts out with a mixed joint, then neat then hash then higher concentrations or larger quantities, and then you move to a different trip.
Plus, long term use is said to kill brain cells. So that's cancer of the lungs and stupidity.

(A) No, people who have a drug-using tendency end up using all kinds of drugs, cannabis just happens to be one of them, its general trend of occuring early in the experimentation phase is a byproduct of its availability and mild, nature. The "gateway" myth is an attempt to paint an arbitrarily chosen drug as the scapegoat "siren" that lures poor innocent children to eventual doom. It's ridiculous. Alcohol, Cigarettes, and even prescription medications for mood disorders (such as ritalin, aderol, dexedrine) are the TRUE "gateway" drugs, as citizens encounter and abuse them long before cannabis.

(B) Smoking ANYTHING is for chumps. Even "Flinstones" vitamins will screw up your lungs if you smoke them. Ingestion of cannabis has zero known serious health side affects. The same cannot be said of alcohol, nicotine, caffeine, sleep aides, fast food...

well its not as bad for you as smoking or drinking because you cant over dose or die from it. and its not addicting. also weed isnt abad thing
if weed is so bad why do theyh use it in hospitals all over the world and why is it legal in amsterdam nothing is wrong with it i know tons of ppl that smoke weed about everyone i know does they can stop when they want. if you are high it is like a nondeadly beer and a cigarette. there is no nicoteen or tar involved. also if it were legalized itd solve all the delaer problems and itd save thousands of people kids that get fucked out of their highschool cus they got high
i know 5 ppl that were pulled over and had weed on them
4 just got it taken away and the policesed dont do againand let them go. now does that really seem bad also the ther kid was a grower and a dealer in my school he got 3 weeks juvi and no permanet record hes back in school doing fine.

Because the U.S. Federal Government is not good at admitting mistakes and even worse at rectifying them. In the 30's when it was made unlawful as far as science was concerned what we now know is B.S. propoganda was thought to be true

Cannabis really damaged my brain and has left me really slow and messed up, I stopped smoking it a few years ago but have never really recovered.

If you want to read a blog I have done on my experience. Here it is

http://www.forummatters.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31

I would advise any young person who smokes marijuana to read it.

Brain Damaged: Thank you, I'm old but will read it ;) I must say one of my big fears with quitting is that I'm not sure I want to see how badly I've fucked up myself and my life with such clarity. I have trouble to honestly decide if I'd rather have a better life with what's left of my life or to just stay half brain dead so I'm not so bothered about it. (I know better but that doesn't make it easier.) Since screwing things up the past couple months i realised something... I don't like being stoned.. not stoned 'for real'. I don't like that high anymore. Makes me all nervous and weird. I like the big blah after three or four spliffs. Just to forget and space out and make the days go by faster. My problem is that I feel like that's all I want anymore. I don't think i even want to know how great my life could have been. That's horrifying.
