I've known some kids who get addicted in this way. They don't know that the punch is spiked so they drink it. After a few parties, they are kinda hooked and go looking for that buzz. I always tell people to bring their own drinks but not everyone does. Its hard to monitor these situations.

Does that really cause addiction, or are they just thrill seeking? Getting drunk a couple of times doesn't suddenly make you an alcoholic, surely?
Just curious what people think of that medically - I know some drugs are biologically addictive, but is alcohol addictive that quickly?
I've been to plenty of parties where drinks get spiked, and other than a few people getting ill or a little stupid it hasn't done any long term harm?

If you get drunk a few times, it does appeal to you more than before. It becomes sort of the "norm" and you start going to parties looking for that kind of feeling. Thats why spiking the punch at mainly freshmen parties is so destructive for some kids.
