Do you think that people who have a faith (any faith) have a better chance of recovering from an addiction than someone who does not believe in anything?
I think in a way, faiths can help, but in another way, if you feel like you have let down your God / Church / Belief system, then maybe you will feel worse, and find it harder to recover - unless your faith preaches forgiveness?
What do you think?

We can't worship until and unless we have faith. So its very important that we grow some faith with trust and will. Only then we can recover from addiction.

I believe that people who have faith do have a better chance of recovering from addiction than someone who does not. If you have ever studied of any of the "Twelve Steps" used by A.A., you can see that it can be a great support to those who use it. I'm not not mistaken, A.A. suggests that you surrender to your higher power and admit that you are powerless against the addiction. This can be very liberating, enabling you to proceed from there.
On the other hand, faith can also prolong someone's proactiveness towards recovering by reasoning that God will see to it that you "change" in God's time.
Did that make sense?

I believe faith helps in recovery because we get our focus off from ourselves and our addiction, and move that focus to a higher power who will give us strength. Faith has been instrumental to me in overcoming my own addictions. I don't feel like I have to be strong because the strength comes from outside of me.

I believe that people who have faith in God have a better chance of recovering from thier addiction . Faith provides them internal forces to stay away from their addition and there are many examples proved it.

People who have faith in God have a better chance of recovering from their addiction because they have faith on themself. So, they are mentally more strong.

Yes, faith is very important for everything you do, whether it is prayers, your work or anything. If you are not doing anything with a faith how can you continue doing it. Take an example of friendship, this also need faith.
