I watched a show the other night about 4 people with food addictions. The lightest one weighed in around 360 pounds and the biggest was about 750. In every case, they were so obese because they just can't control their eating. One guy, who has actually lost over a hundred pounds and is down to 680 from 800+ eats 36,000 calories a day. Most people need around 2000 to 2500. He eats as much in a day as an ordinary eater does in two weeks. It's astounding. I can't imagine putting that much food into myself, but apparently, over time, they've all destroyed the mechanism that says "I'm full. Stop now."

Now, I like food and I like stuff that's not good for me, but I can't imagine doing nothing but eating all day long.

Oh, and Lent starts today--I'm giving up salty snacks (my downfall--chips and snack mix and cheesies). I'm hoping it'll get me to cut down on them even after Easter.

I have many favorite foods but I'm not addicted to it. Pizza is one of my favorite food. I used to eat 3 slices of pizza twice a week. When I was 18 years old, I ate peanuts daily.

I don't understand how people can eat so much that they turn into big round balls. I have never denied that I like to eat good food. At the same time, I like a nice body. So I have always had the battle of candy and sweets v. exercising.

I can't understand it either. Once I stuff myself (which I do when the meal is turkey and all the good things), I can't eat again for hours. I can't imagine sitting and eating and eating and eating. I'd explode.

there are for some no signal to stop eating. Thats a physical problem for many. In some other medical cases the body is simply looking for an element in a food that is simply too small to be stored. Others eat from emotional problems and others have no emzymes to help digest food.
Tho rare they all do exist.

Morbidly obese pateints or those who have major problems are often left out of the medical loop simply because many doctors feel they eat because they want to. IN some cases its true. It begins as an injury that prevents exercise which can in some trigger a host of eating complications.

we are lucky thats ome hospitals are being focused on such a comon event. we see now so many that are so severe that they once hid.

I for one watch so many of these xposes and feel the urge to stop eating.
Just teh thought f scarfing bags of chips or other foods is nauseating. But then being diabetic type 1 i have a tight reign on what I eat and how much.
Summer is my best time because from all of the outdoor exercise my urge to eat is lowered.
I also think that because of many of these exposes it triggers opposite reactions in so many poeple, parents and that reflects on the kids.

I don't really eat too much amount of food. Infact if I've eaten 2 plates of rice, I can't easily breath. Have you encountered the same thing?

I could be addicted to sweets, I guess. My body and mind seem to crave them quite a lot. This craving got a lot worse several years ago after I quit smoking. I've gained quite a bit of weight by trading one bad habit for another.

You might want to get your blood sugar levels checked, ozzie. Sometimes this craving for sweets is related to hypoglycemia and it can be regulated by eating smaller amounts every few hours.
