One of the most striking things to me is the number of people who don't mind that dopey, goofy, demeanor they have when they're stoned.

Not that I condone them, but drugs that make people more active and "up" are at least something I can understand. I don't understand the appeal of drugs that make people goofy and dopey. There's nothing more undignified than that look marijuana smokers have when they're smoking.

I'm not trying to insult anyone. I just thought if someone addicted to marijuana thought about this angle it might help "inspire" them to stop.

Erm, have you ever seen anyone gurning their face off after taking a few pills? That's no more dignified than the dopey look. I can understand why people smoke weed, its to relax them, and a lot of people use it to sleep, or relieve pain. Come to think of it, being drunk isn't really very dignifeid either is it?

None its dignified. There's that famous "joke" about being the only sober one at a party and what a bore that is. That's my point.

Recently there was some YouTube videos on tv. Now people are taking some new stuff that isn't even illegal. Talk about "undignified".....

It only looks undignified when you review the footage the morning after. During the 'buzz' I expect most people feel as though they are the coolest cats on the planet.

For every dope gurner I bet there is a drunk making a bigger tit of themselves and with far more serious conseqences.

I don`t think marijuana addicts care about the way they look, or that the drug makes them goofey as you say, they are addicted and most of them just can`t help themselves from not smoking the stuff. They need help and that`s what matters.

I suspect the average mj user is more concerned about how they feel. For some, they feel cool or creative or perhaps more intuitive than normal. In their minds "if it feels good" then that is all that matters. I've been told I look mad or sad when actually I am feeling OK. I was able to hide my addiction to mj from my family and friends for over two years - they saw little difference in me, save my red eyes.
