When there is a obsession with thoughts of achieving perfection we can say that a person is addicted to Perfectionism . Can you believe that people can be addicted to perfection ?

Perfection has nothing to do with addiction, it is a kind of baheavior a person has, if it will not affect someones life , psihically I don`t see any problem , but if the person just tries and tries to be perfect and he never achives to be perfect in everything he is doing then there is a big problem.

Sounds a little bit like OCD. That's not an addiction though, like you say, its a behaviour disorder. Peopl think things will go wrong if everything on a shelf isn't perfectly in line or something.

Perfectionalism is a great boon for the one who have it within them. Or in other world, they are one of the few lucky persons who have it.

If you can use it to your advantage in life, then I can see nothing wrong with it. Unfortunately most people cannot therefore it can be a problem. I used to have this problem and although there was not really anything negative about it. I eventually saw a problem with it and changed how I was. I do at somethings have to be a profectionist but most others it is not so important.

I like doing things properly, and thouroughly, and I like things done my way, but I'm not sure that I'm a perfectionist. I think we probably all have our own ideas about what perfect actually is. Maybe some of our standards are just lower than others.

I would have to throw being addicted to perfectionism as maybe being an OCD than an addiction.

How can you be addicted to something which is dictated by your own mind?

Being a "perfectionist" is not the same thing for all people.

There are people for whom doing things well in life comes pretty naturally, and although others may perceive that consistent "doing a good job at what he does" performance as being a "perfectionist", it is sometimes just a matter of naturally know how to easily or efficiently do excellent work. In other words, some people do excellent work just kind of naturally.

Then there are the people for whom doing a perfect job at anything just seems impossible. They have to work hard, and if they are going to aim for excellence it will take a great deal of commitment and sometimes more time than it should. These are the people for whom aiming for a job done perfectly may be more of a problem, but I think that's more a matter of expecting too much of themselves, rather than addiction.

In my book there is a fine line between doing things my way and perfectionism. However these things might be seen differently by others simply because their definition of the two might not be the same as our own. I agree that some peoples standards are lower and in many cases can be much lower than others. But this is a part of life!
