Let us know what affects much, When a mother who is a heavy drinker or when a father who is a heavy drinker?
In my case my dad used to drink a lot. My mom never drank in her whole life. And I suffered a lot due to my dad.

I think that the child suffers in both cases, either if the mother drinks or the fathers. Alcoholics usually have agressive behaviour so in most cases the young ones have to suffer.

Anytime there is alcohol in the house, the children do suffer in one way or another. I think that parents have an obligation to protect their children no matter what and if that means giving up what you think is happiness then so be it. You the children should always come first, even if the partner of the parent who does not drink was there in the beginning.

I don't think it really matters which parent has the addiction, the child will suffer regardless.

How it suffers will depend on the parent, the father would be more likely to cause financial, or physical abuse the mother emotional.

either each will affect the family but having a drunkard mother will make a much greater damage i guess, Because they should be the one to tend there kids when they were still young and just imagine the impact if she were a alcoholic.

If you are close to your dad then you will suffer the most if he is a drinker, whereas in case of mother its the same.
