Hi,
I have recently discovered that my daughter has been dating a drug-dealer. She now has around seven 2" long marks, like burn marks on her fore-arm.
Could someone please tell me if this is a sign of some drug use?
She says they happened whilst she was dancing.
Thanks

I think that may be , those may be scars of injcetions that these addicts use.

If it's a scars of injection, why it's 2" marks? I think an injection will not leave a long mark. Maybe it's other device commonly used by drug users.

I'm not very familiar with drug accessories, but do you think the burn marks happened accidentally when someone was heating some hash?
I have heard of doing "hot knives" where table knives are heated very hot to burn pieces of hash to produce smoke. I think that's how it's done, I haven't actually seen it done.
Hopefully this is nothing serious in your daughter's case.

People don't shoot up coke. That would be either speed or heroine. Cocaine is generally snorted or smoked in it's crack version which is the most addictive version.

This is so true...when my son wasn't shooting heroin(his drug of choice) he was shooting coke or crack....when I was using coke(I have been in recovery and sober for 17 years now from a cocaine addiction)I stayed away from needles.

Congratulations stressedoutmom, on your recovery and sobriety. :)
Keigh, I hope things are well with your daughter. Have you learned what the marks were from?

These may be burns from a crack pipe, dancing makes no sense at all. How old is she, is your relationship open enough that you can talk to her about the dangers of drug use? And keep an open mind and refrain from anger just let her be honest then offer help becoming angery of judgemental only makes an addict withdraw more. Tell her your fears and let her know she can come to you without fear.
Then talk to him!!! The danger is drug addiction encouraged by a boyfriend in that lifestyle, often leads to pimping her. I know I was that young girl.
If you are sure of his drug dealing call the police.

these marks are most definitely caused by needles. True a needle only leaves a small mark at the injection site. However, if you ever been an i.v. drug user, you know it is not fun (or easy) to try to inject in the same exact spot every time. The solution is to find a vain you like and keep moving up and down along the vain everytime you inject, which for some people can exceed 20 to 30 times a day. So lets say over the next five days you are going to shoot up twenty times a day. You don't have very many visible vains on your arm, so the few you do have are going to get hit 100's of times per square inch. Really, sometimes you may have to stick yourself 4 or more times just for one shot before you hit your mark. So you could easily poke yourself 3 to 4 hundred times in just a few days. (all in a 3 inch long path about 2 millimeters wide) Unless you are just good at it. So yeah, hundreds and hundreds of needle marks along a 3 inch path about two millimeters wide, would make it near impossible to distiguish each mark from another. They would just all blend together and give you a sort of blueprint as to where your vain is.
