It is frequently noted that certain addictions "run in the family," And this leads to further making their child a chain smoker or a heavy drunker.
Is this true that addiction is based upon genetics??

There is strong evidence that some people process alcohol differently than others; breaking it down only to the point where they produce the chemical that causes craving. I don't know about other addictions.
