Lets share some similar experience here. All of us are worried about our parents being addicted. Lets help each other. Let us post how our own parents got recovered from addiction/ alcoholism.

My father used to drink daily , for some 2 years time , just after work never during the day, he was somehow addicted, but when he said I`ll never drink again he did so. He changed the drink with fruits and cakes.

I think that some people are able to just quit and fulfill what they say they will do. But for most they do not follow through so they fall back or do not quit to begin with.

My father was once a alcoholic having to drink almost everyday, but now he stopped those things because of the illness he got from them. Like high blood pressure and clogged arteries. Now he is one a healthy lifestyle and we are happy for that.

My biological father was the same way, he was a sever alcoholic, but stopped because it caused other damage and illeness to other areas of his body. He has now passed on but wanted to make that change for his new family.

The life of the family becomes hell where the head of the family or both the parents drinks. It is a a very serious and common problem in the society

My father promised us hundreds of time, but till yesterday he has been drinking. I am sure he will never give up drinking. Its really hard for him.
