After my dad retired from the Army, he began drinking heavily and was soon an alcoholic. When he was drinking he was a totally different person....one who wrecked a lot of havoc on his family.

Was he kinda sober person after the effect of alcohol wore down i.e. did he used to realise his doing or misdoings once he got on his own?
I have seen many cases with amrmy person thatbthey often indulge in the kind of the thing like alcohol. I wonder what could be the reason for it. Is it because of the life they have lived???

It seems that every person after retirement should find some nice activities , like fishing, travelling , some sport if possible , otherwise they`ll end up having bad habits or addcitions, so your father must find some good activities like the ones I mentioned above, and he`ll be okey, otherwise he should get some conceilling.
