I was just wondering if we as a society and law enforcement along with other agencies, are doing enough to stop the sales of the these products that people are becoming addicted to. I understand that in many cases the government will not stop some of the sales such as cigarettes, and alcohol because they are getting part of that money. But when do we draw the line, and shouldn't part of that money being spent be used to help those people? Just wanted to know what you all think.

On the other hand maybe it's time to actually rethink the law and actually legalise drugs fully?
There would be the benefits to the government of revenue from taxes etc as well as less strain on the police force as they could devote resources to other crimes.
It would also benefit the user in that they would be getting a reliable product for a fair price and not being held to ransom by the dealer.
Of course there is the argument that more people would abuse but I think that it would only be a short term problem which in any case would be countered by having more 'functioning' addicts able to work etc.

But at what point then would a company be responsibly for it so called functioning addict? Even if you were to make it legal, how would a company protect itself in the event that the functioning addict become longer functioning properly. If the thought process or reaction times are impaired how would this be handled.
