If you have child with anorexia, how difficult has it been for you?
Have you gone through guilt and blaming yourself? Have you joined a support group or gotten counseling to support you through your child's eat disorder? Are there things you feel you would have done differently?
In general, how has it been for you to have to watch your child go through this?

It is my hope that I will find someoen on this forum who like me has GREAT difficulty & frustration dealing with my now 21yr old daughter who got serious anorex when only 13...3 programs, 2 inpt..horrible for nearly a yr,she almost died etc...then she was basiclly OK for the highsch yrs. But then when it was obvious shed relapsed, she was then 18, our hands were tied as parents in a way re.her denial. refusal etc to get help and so on. Oh she finally gave in to some therapy & meds but begrudgidly, and worse is, as her mother, I could not get ANY info from therapy etc because she wouldnt sign a release etc etc.!! Its been so hard trying to help her w/out angering her etc...its a tight rope at times...I/we dont want to make her worse, but we cant ignor it either...
At times I look back at all the sacrifices Ive made, and how Ive little substance or happiness in my own life, other than work, because of her issues & the vigilence its required...then i feel guilty etc.An endless circle & very diff situation for all involved...Shes not critical at this time...almost as if shes figured out how to be a functioning-depressed anorexic...
Now that shes an 'adult'vs.child its been VERY hard to find support or ANYONE (even on-line,so i hope finding this board will help?) who understands not just her, but ME,as her Mom and how/what I need to do to both cope & find a way to help her...particularly now as shes about to transfer across state to another college!...empty nest syn for me...and unfort poss a way to her to be in more denial! she has no sisters..and saddly now no friends;1 younger bro,and my husb..and others..who all hv to suffer too.. Its so sad. We can see that she can be so much better, but not her.
If theres anyone in a similar situatn and/or can refer me to some other family who is Id certainly be grateful for that support.Thank-you so much, Moe
