My brother is a TV addict that wants to stop. He spend hours of free (and some work) time because he can't resist the impulse to escape. Every night he stay up sometimes till the early morning because he can't pull himself away.

Does anyone else out there feel the same?

I believe that is a true sign of addiction to television. Why is it that he cannot bring himself away from it. Poke and prod and see what you can find out about why he has to watch TV. Sometimes removing the temptation is the best thing to do. Talk to him about your concerns.

A lot of people have problems with television addiction, but not so many cases are this severe. I feel bad for people with television addictions, because sometimes it seems that they waste so much of thier life watching others instead of actually living.

Television addiction becomes a problem when a subject does not want to watch TV, but experiences an uncontrollable compulsion to start or continue watching. The subject may not accomplish tasks or goals that he or she feels are important

I guess I used to be one of these people. There were times when the box was on all day, and I don't think I watched a single show. Of course, now I don't own a tV

It's usually another problem under it all. Is he an adult or a child?

Yes, your brother is addicted to T.V. But is he really want to be normal. then you should remove T.V from your home's. One has to sacrifice whether you want to solve the problem or want T.V at your homes.

Conquering an addiction is difficult. And the treatment differs from person to person.
