The needle is far more fine than any needle used to give injections. I had acupuncture for several months and the only one that was painful was one that was inserted along side my nose, because it went so deep into such sensitive tissue. It DOES hurt if you forget the needle is there and knock it, as I had done on occasion, but really you just feel pressure.

For me, they only hurt when they're going into an area with a problem. And even then, the pain only lasts for about 5 to 10 seconds--hardly unbearable. I need to call my acupuncturist and get her to come treat my wrist.

My wife had some accupuncture treatment and I asked her exactly this question. She swears that she never felt any pain. It's not just the needles but also that you are avoiding nerves, etc.

I really dont know exactly about the acupressure but needles do not pain as they are pinched so skillfully and only those areas which do not have nerves.

Is it in the skill of the guy piercing needles or the points at which they are pierced or the needles are such fine that they are not bound to hurt at all?

It is a mixture of all three, but it is the insertion points that are particularly important. Of course without skill or fine needles the best insertion points would still result in pain.

No, actually, for the most part, it is very relaxing. For the first few seconds there might be some pain. But you get used to it very quickly and then it is all just a massaging feeling aftewards. You should try it, it is quite good.

There are certain parts where you don't feel any pain. And those are the real acupuncture points. There are numerous such points in your palm itself.

Well those needle are different than those which we used in injections. You can feel pain for short time like 10 to 15 seconds but than after you can feel very relaxing. If you do regularly than you can enjoy this without any pain.
