Anyone ever had an experience fighting the city or neighbors by running a group home? We set-up a rehab center in new mexico, we went to the city and told them what we wanted to do, they said ok you need this license to do so, so we did what the city requested. Now we have a neighbor who went to other neighbors and filed a petition to get us out, of course one of them knows the mayor (Los Ranchos New Mexico) so now the mayor is siding with the neighbors, and is going to revolk our license, after we spent our life savings setting up this place, now making us hire attnys to go fight for us. Of course off the record the Mayor said the city deserves better than a bunch of drunks and drug addicts running thru the neighborhoods, and our clientle is high end, it cost 15k a month to stay with us but the neighbors don't care, and now the Mayor is going back and saying we are using more than 250 square feet of the house to do business in, and in the license they issued us, we are only suppose to use only 250 square feet, but the city came out and visited our premises TWICE before issueing the license and saw 9 beds in the house and knew we were using the whole house, and told us it wasn't a big deal, and gave us the license and wished us luck, but now that the city wants us out "6 months later" they are splitting hairs, and finding every little clause to get us out. Our attorney said we would probably win the suit against the city, but it would be a long and expensive fight, and of course we did not set this up to be in the lidigation business, both myself and my business partner are recovering addicts ourselves, and just want to make a few bucks and help people. Anyways I am just trying to find out if anyone here has ever had these kind of battles before Thanks (-:
