My mom just died just over a month ago. And all because of prescription pain meds (VICODIN!!) the doctors gave her whatever she wanted and even went to multiple doctors just to get more. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE! People's records should be shared information from doctor to doctor since mostly everything seems to be done on computers anymore anyways. She had serious mental illness and should HAVE NEVER BEEN ON THEM! SHe was only 47, but people younger than her even die every day because of these drugs.

I am so heartbroken because this should not have happened, she was loved by so many people. DOnt let this happen to anyone you love, if they have a problem MAKE THEM GET OFF THEM! She would take 10 to 12 pills a day, and it killed her liver. There was no helping her, nor were we able to predict it. She wasn't feeling well and two days later she went into a coma and died.

Parmasutical companies are so greedy, they will do anything to have people on medications, even if the people dont really need them.

I hate perscriptions and will not take them unless i absolutely need it to live or prevent sickness like with antibiotics. depression meds can kiss my ass they dont work. its all in your head!

if anyone knows of any groups actively taking a stand against this and trying to pass new laws that will prevent people from so easily abusing meds please let me know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am extremely sorry for your loss, and I thank you for sharing your story. It makes me even more grateful that I quit the lortab and Ambieb. After reading your post, I see the position I put my 16 year old daughter in. I don't want her to be coming to my funeral.

I agree about the doctors and sharing information. As I stated on another thread, I wrote a letter and gave it to all the physicians in our small community asking them to not prescribe any controlled substance for me under any circumstances. I did put on there if something bad happened and I needed medication (accident, death in the family, etc) that my husband be given the medication and disperse it to me at the correct times.

My addiction started due to several sinus surgeries in the period of a few months. The only problem is that when I requested it, they would prescribe it. I am not saying that this is the doctors fault because they were just doing what I asked, but they do dole it out to easily. Especially the ambien and sleep medications. It got so bad that I quit watching television because every other ad was for ambien or lunesta. These two drugs should be removed from the market. They are more dangerous than any other.

I am in the midst of actively doing something that will prevent unscrupulous doctors from so easily prescribing addictive drugs to patients. Please contact me at Di@AnAddictNoMore.com
