Dual Diagnosis Treatment SW MI

If anyone out there can help me, I would so appreciate it.

My neighbor has a mental illness diagnosis plus he is addicted to drugs and alcohol. His mom wants to find help for him as the psych hospital he has been going to does not know about his problems with drugs and alcohol or have turned their heads to it.

I am searching for help for this young man and his mom in the way of inpatient treatment in SW Michigan. I'm googling for info and have found one treatment center within a hundred miles and a few phone numbers at the request of the mom.

Anyone have any experience in the treatment for folks diagnosed with both addiction problems and a mental illness?

My son also has a mental illness, and he is dependent on street drugs. It is not all that uncommon, There is not much in the way of help if dr's are not aware of the full scope of the problem, but it would be advised to have this young man's Dr's make recomedation and referrals to address the mental and depedency problems. First off, he needs a Dr who is a chemist, second he needs a psychiatrist and a social worker and a lot of family support. Most often familys get discouraged and end up giving up. Is the system perfect? By no means. But I do hope that I have helped in some small way and good luck to your friend. If you need more information please do let me know, I will see what I am able to gather up here, in the way of long term treatment.
