These processes can vary from cold turkey to the use of substitute drugs which do not have the same action upon the state of consciousness as the original drug to which the person was addicted.

Default Whats the Point?

Same mantra. This may bore anyone who read my last thread. It's just slightly more negative. I am so fucking bored. I've been a week clean and before that a week clean and before that a week clean....and before that like 3 weeks clean? So really I've been weekending it more or less. It's pretty pointless especially now that I don't have a wicked physical addiction like I used to, but it is so fucking boring in this fishermans town with no car, and no job, no money. The job I was almost sure I landed...I didn't. Now I'm looking at working at a pizza shop, a dunkin' donuts, like what else is there?? I don't have a degree in anything. Just a hairdressers license and it takes years to accumulate enough of a clientel that will make you more then 250 a week. Suck. Like what is the point in quitting if I end up getting a job at a counter at a pizza place? It's just different when your 25 and have nothing to bring to the table or any money to go to school.

Not trying to be rude at all this advice really helped me. Your not helping your self acting like a victim. Get out and do something with your life and stop dwelling on past failures. Life does go on and is what you make of it. Sit around long enough telling your self there is nothing you can do, well sooner or later you will find your self doing nothing.

Default What is the point?

I will tell you what the point is. You are clean. You are alive. Believe it or not, there is a whole world out there just waiting for you. Your life is one of the most precious things in the world. Don't waste it. Get out and do something with it. You have been using for a while, and now don't know what to do with yourself when you are clean.
You have a haircutting license? Well good for you. That is a start. It may take years to get a following, but the time you invest in yourself is worth it. You are worth it.
Working in fast food doesn't interest you? But it is money. And some money is better than no money. Set a goal that you will work at a "crummy" job for 6 months, save your money and then decide what you want to do with yourself, you have your whole life ahead of you.

dear Mary and every one else,

Sorry I missed you, I'm assuming you must be tight or twisted if you are repling to a 2yr old post. I wish I could have been hear to talk. Should you need a friend to share with, I can be found by e-mail recoveredcrackhead@yahoo. I check that more often than I get here.
Hope all is well.

Regards,
Larrylive

everything happens for a reason and maybe working at the pizza shop will lead to something amazing for you. You never know it won't hurt to give it a try and the worst that happens is you begin to make some money in the mean time....
