Drug Rehabilitation
Drug Rehab is an umbrella term for a variety of processes by which a person addicted to a drug stops using that drug. These processes can vary from cold turkey to the use of substitute drugs which do not have the same action upon the state of consciousness as the original drug to which the person was addicted.
Alcohol Addiction
Alcohol Addiction is a chronic disease characterized by a strong craving for alcohol, a constant or periodic reliance on use of alcohol despite adverse consequences, the inability to limit drinking, physical illness when drinking is stopped, and the need for increasing amounts of alcohol to feel its effects.

Default I Lost My Daughters

I was an Rx drug addict (painkillers, tranquilizers, muscle relaxants). It started years ago due to 3 serious back injuries. As a result of years of addiction, my adult daughters (ages 33 and 30) refuse to have anything to do with me. I was not allowed to go to my daughters' weddings. The sad part is that they refused to get to know the 'cleaned up' version of me, their mom. I (and my husband) feel that I've become a pretty ok person now. I do a great deal of blogging regarding the issue of Rx drugs and hope to, someday, be integral in changing some laws here in NYS regarding prescribing these killer drugs. I want to make it more difficult. My older daughter (because of watching me while she grew up) had her own battle with Rx drugs; she became addicted to fentanyl in the form of Actiq. You can also privately email me at Di@AnAddictNoMore.com with your comments. Please help me with this awareness. FYI - I never could have gotten well without the Lord.
