Default How to quit on your own

How would you go about quitting without any outside help? Is there any book, ressource, or method available that would enable someone to quit drinking without seeking professional help ? Some people have a high profile and do not want to risk public defeat for seeking help (even if that would help them). What methods available to quit by yourself ?

You have to just leave using drugs if you want to quit it on yourself. It doesnot matter if you read tons of books or take any kind of tool to do it. Unless you dont have self-confidence you cannot stop your drug addiction

I think another possibility may be to accept help online, basically anonymously if the person was concerned about outward appearances.

I'm not sure what resources there are for this, though.

Quitting alcohol on your own, particularly if one has used large amonts for a long time, is potentially fatal unless treated medically, i.e., with a benzodiazapene to avoid potentially FATAL seizures.

Quitting on your own is NOT a good idea.

Quitting on your own is a tough thing to do.

If you call your local addiction center they should be able to help you obtain help anonymously.

What you should do it start to love your self . Look at your body and see what you have done to it . Love your self is the first thing that you should do .

I think the will power is very important in it if you want to quit it yourself without any outside help. Another important thing is that you should be able to admit yourself that you are addict.

Default dont go at it alone

I agree with STEVE... Quitting on your own if you are drinking a large amount can be fatal - you will go through withdrawals, may become dehydrated, and other medical things can go wrong. If you are ready to stop drinking, you need to go somewhere that offers detox. They will watch over you and give you meds to help you quit successfully and possibly refer you to IOP (intensive outpatient program) - groups to talk about triggers. You will be able to learn coping skills to get better -

Quitting on your own is NOT a good idea.
