A recent study was done concerning the use of marijuana and 22% of the adults 18 years of age and over reported to have smoked marijuana more than 6 times in the year prior to being interviewed for the study. Most of the people who live in Alberta view drug abuse and alcohol abuse as a very important and serious issue. Most of them support drug policy programs and government actions when it comes to reducing the use of illegal drugs and alcoholism. There is strong support in the community when it comes to needle exchange programs, methadone maintenance programs, and drug treatment courts.
