Tamilnadu (Tamil Nadu) is one of the 28 states of India; it is also one of the largest populated states and is about the size of Greece.

For many young people, drug addiction starts at an early age as well as transmitted diseases. Cocaine and Ecstasy are rarely abused in India but there are plenty of illicit drugs that are. Common abused drugs in Tamilnadu include:

  1. Cannabis (commonly referred to as marijuana, ganja, bhang, and charas)
  2. Opioids
  3. Heroin is a highly addictive drug and is a popular drug of choice in India and is also injected.
  4. Opium drugs
  5. Injection Buprenorphine
  6. Spasmo Proxyvon capsules have weak opium like effect which is commonly injected and abused.
  7. Cough syrups containing codeine
  8. Sleeping pills like Alprazolam and Diazepam
  9. Inhalants containing toluene are frequently abused by young people.
  10. Pharmaceutical drug abuse is also increasing in India.


Many young people between eighteen and twenty years old have started abusing these drugs. Injecting these pharmaceutical drugs is elevating throughout the region which sadly just adds to the increase of injected disease.
