Kids Dying Playing Games They View as 'Harmless Fun'

Some of the games adolescents are playing today are extremely dangerous and potentially deadly but kids are participating in them because they think they're safe and fun. Kids take risks as their growing up, this is how they learn. They have no way of truly understanding the potential dangers their actions may lead to. Many of the games are particularly dangerous and can end tragically.

The Choking Game

The choking game isn't a new trend it's been around for years. This game is extremely dangerous and thanks to websites like YouTube, kids can learn exactly how the choking game is played online. The Choking game involves cutting off the supply of blood and oxygen from reaching the brain until a person passes out or until they're just about to in order to achieve a 'buzz'. This happens when the flow surges back to the brain.

There are several ways kids seem to be playing the choking game, they're using their own hands to choke themselves, using items like belts or ropes or having a friend do it to them. This game is just innocent fun to kids but the results can be deadly and have been for many children in the past.

The choking game can also lead to head trauma, seizures and brain damage as well according to an ABC news report. Not all kids are learning about the choking game on the internet either. According to this report, a twelve year old named Erik learned how to play the game from a friend at school on the playground. The next day he played the game with his Boy Scout rope by himself in his living room and sadly was later found deceased by his mother.

The Punching Game

According to a recent report on KSDK a fifteen year old student recently died after being punched in the chest by a friend at Normandy High School. This was a game 2 friends were playing at school that involved punching one another in the chest, and sadly a fifteen year old died as a result.

The Pocket Game

Obviously there are different versions of the punching game but they're all equally as dangerous. This version is called 'pocket', apparently when a person puts their hand in one of their pockets they can get hit in the chest. A fifteen year old student at Serra High School unfortunately ended up in the hospital as a result of this game.

The game took place at school and when the student reached inside his pocket for his iPod and out of nowhere, he was punched in the chest. The punch took his breath away and he was unable to breathe causing him to black-out hitting the concrete, and tearing up the side of his face as well. Fortunately this student recovered.

Punch In The Face

Punch in the face is another version of the punching game and involves two people tying their left hands together and taking turns hitting each other in the face. All of these games are dangerous and can cause serious life threatening injuries or even death. Unfortunately if kids aren't thinking up risky activities up on their own to have fun, there's always some new dangerous activity to be viewed on the web.
