What Is Phencyclidine?

Pencyclidine, also known as PCP, is a recreational dissociative drug that gives the drug user hallucinogenic and neurotoxic effects. Some individuals begin using Phencyclidine for the anesthetic properties, especially those who suffer from chronic pain while others simply like the hallucinogenic affects of it.

It is primarily used for recreation either by snorting, ingesting or smoking it. Pencyclidine dates back to the 1960s when residents of major cities in the United States were using it and became the number one drug problem in the country by 1978. Between the 1980s and 1990s there were far less people using Phencyclidine but it is still ingested by a variety of people throughout the country, primarily teenagers and young adults.

Phencyclidine (PCP) comes in powder and liquid forms and is something sprayed onto materials to smoke like mint, oregano, cannabis (marijuana), parsley and ginger leaves. The drug is highly addictive and causes many of its users to become dependent on it, which makes it very difficult for them to quit.
